Dear DGC Members,
Our April meeting, “Farm to Fork Experience” at Smith Flat House, was very well attended and enjoyed by many members. The farmers brought to life the whole concept and we learned many interesting facts about our local food. Thank You Jeanne Harper for being our host and putting this fanatic program together.
We did have some much needed rain in late March and from that came some “New Blossoms” to our DGC Garden Club We now have four New Members.

Welcome Ladies!
The Spring Fling Tea Fundraiser for the Library is shaping up very nicely. The flyers will be up and our advertising is on Community Calendars and Event Pages throughout El Dorado County. We are also on Facebook. Becky McIntyre will be at the May meeting to accept checks for the Tea. Deadline for payment is May 12th.
Our Communication Team is without our “dear” June Short, who for many years telephoned all our members to remind them of our program details. June will be moving closer to her son’s home in Santa Rosa and will be missed by all of us.
The protocol for communications with our club members thru our Private Email System is done thru Marilyn Johnson. This let’s members know that the message you are receiving is related to DGC matters. We have a policy for no political endorsements.
I am looking forward to our next Program with Tenley Martinez of Sea Dream Lavender at Greenstone Barn.
See you in May
Mary Bourn,
President

Craft Team
Many thanks to Carol McBride for hosting our April meeting; the poppy seed cake was delicious!
The members present decided meeting once a month was unnecessary and that any business could be handled at the crafting meetings every other month.
This means the June meeting at Jeri Hartman’s home and the August meeting at Marilyn Johnson’s home are cancelled.
It was also suggested that during the summer our meetings should be held in the afternoon as many of us are involved in swim aerobics at 10:00 A.M., four days a week. We will finalize these changes at the May 13th crafting meeting.
The May meeting will be at Marilyn Brown’s home where we will be making pot people. We discussed the availability of small pots & switching one craft project with another. As we are all responsible for our own supplies it was decided we didn’t need to switch the projects. Supplies needed for the project are 21 pots of varying sizes, (your choice of sizes) twine, large washers, other materials you wish to use for hair, clothes, faces, etc. Nanette has a drill and will bring it to make holes in the pots.
I will be researching where we might get a deal on pots and will let everyone know if I find a great price somewhere.
A new project was introduced by Carol for sewing crafters. Snap purses made from measuring tapes which can be utilized for everything from craft trinkets to makeup to medications!
See you all on May 13th at Marilyn Brown’s home!
