Choral Engstrom’s home
Heather Campbell, Chair of the Pollock Pines Fire Safe Council, gave a very informative presentation about defensible space focusing on the first 5 feet. If interested in a referral for someone to hire for clearing and limbing trees, go to the El Dorado County Fire Safe Council website www.edcfiresafe.org. Also there is an exterior paint you can buy that will provide 2 hours of fire protection for your home. 28 people attended the presentation which lasted 30 minutes.

Treasurer’s report – $2130.

Photo Directory – Nanette sent around a proof of the photo directory for people to check to make sure their info was correct. Pat S. did the proofreading for Nanette. The cover will be in color, the interior black and white. Cost is $5. Judy Cooper will be collecting the money for the directory. This information will be included in the Blooming News. Nanette said she will provide updates of the directory for as long as she’s in the club.
Fund Raising Luncheon: Maureen mentioned at the beginning of the meeting that the funds raised by the luncheon will pay for a brochure to be made specific to the mountains region we live in. More information will be provided at the luncheon. Kay gave the following update. Seats are still available for the luncheon both at hosted and un-hosted tables. If you wish to sit with a specific host, contact the host. If not, contact Kay Campbell. Regarding the Fashion Show (Sue G) – Grapes and Ivy will not be participating so the number of models has been reduced to: Ambiance: store model, Katheryn A., Sandra M., Maureen. Off Broadway: Mary Kay, Norma, Judy J. and Kay (friend of Judy’s). Models will meet at their appropriate shop at the beginning of June.
Marilyn Johnson gave the following updates:
Friends of the Library Team – May 22nd 10-2. Bag of books sale at Safeway. $5 for a bag of books from one to however many you can fit in the bag.
Wagon Train – June 5th 9-1. Friends of the Library will be there with information about library programs and the opportunity to join FOL.
July 4th – The bookmobile will be in the parade. FOL is teaming with DGC to have a book and bake sale at the Community Center after the parade.
Marilyn also mentioned that the Pollock Pines Library was honored by the State Senate and Assembly for their First 5 program. Honor was presented by the State Librarian. This information needs to go into the Mountain Democrat.
Sunshine Team – Janet. Birthday lunch is next Wednesday, May 13th and will be held at the Olive Garden in Folsom. Please contact Louise Ferdun our host if you are planning to attend. Terry Munion’s husband is in the hospital at Mather. Terry would appreciate hearing from her DGC friends. Her address was sent via e-mail by Marilyn. Donna Carmichael’s in-laws passed away very recently. She is busy helping her husband with the estate. Per Judy Jackson, Darlene Grouse’s husband’s memorial is on Friday.
Program Team – Norma. June’s meeting is hosted by Jerri Hartmann and will take place at the Amador Flower Farm and Nursery in Plymouth.
The June Birthday Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, June 10th at 11:30 a.m. at Cascada Restaurant, 384 Main Street, Placerville. We will be given separate checks. Papa Gianni’s has soups, salads and delicious Italian dishes on their extensive menu. Billy Jordan is your July Birthday Luncheon Hostess. Billy will not be in town for the luncheon. Please RSVP to Janet Sullivan if you plan to attend.

Decorating Team – Maureen gave the update. Decorating team will work with Kay to decorate un-hosted tables at the Fundraiser luncheon.
