Hello Ladies,
Summer is here in full swing! Our tomatoes are loving the hot weather, me, not so much as it limits my time outside!
Our July meeting at Green Acres in Folsom was well attended with 27 members and 2 guests, Dogwood Dudes Connie Norden and Bob McLean. A special thanks as always to Grey Gayton of Green Acres for his always informative information about growing plants in our Pollock Pines zone and answering any and all questions. He gave a tour of the nursery after with many following him and purchasing plants that fitted their needs. Greg has been with Green Acres for 44 years, travels between all 7 stores including 2 in Texas and is the voice behind the Green Acres Podcasts and answers all questions sent in to “idiggreenacres.com”. Before we headed out to the nursery he gave away 2 gift certificates with the lucky winners being Mary Matson ($50.00) and Donna Folts ($25.00)!
Our July Birthday Lunch was held at the Public House in Placerville with 16 ladies attending including birthday girl Marilu Blau whose birthday will be the 21st.

Our 4th of July Parade Bake Sale was a roaring success thanks to lead Lauran Goddard!! Her leadership getting all on board and those who did led us to a total take of $1,052.50!! $300 and some more than last year. This year we added a few drinks, popcorn, sold small flags and some Tic Tac Toe games made by members with rocks. WhooHoo!!! Marayann’s husband John Hackley of JM Electric gave a cash donation of $100.00 and a beautiful 4th of July cake. Thank you John!! It was a great parade with I think more entries this year. Thank you bakers and contributors!!
Sly Park entrance has a garden box to the right as you enter after the pay booth that is maintained by the Dogwood Garden Club. Marilyn is leading up a few members to weed it, cut back some of the wild roses and plant a few flowers. Thank you ladies!
