April 1, 2026 Meeting Minutes

March raffle at the last meeting made $140.00

Fundraiser for Sugarloaf Art Camp $350

Old/Current Business:

Lifetime Member asking them to verify contact info and interest in DGC email was sent

 

Group Email Address -we are still trying to fix the glitch. Should be working by summer.

 

Spring Craft Faire – Norma

We are full. We still need set up and clean up help.

If you would like to help Allison with the food, contact her.

An ad has been placed with the Democrat and added to the Around Here website.

Maureen put it on Facebook. Share the post with all of your friends please.

Kim Carnahan has volunteered to do signs and sandwich board signs.

We need more bakers and help to work the booth.

 

Post Office Coordinator needed- It needs weeded and raked.

May cleanup would be good. On hold until the rain is over.

New Business:

Progressive Lunch August 21st– Debbie Bybee Crumpley

We need one more host for the salad stop. Also we need food sign ups. If you just signed up but didn’t say what food item you are bringing please let Debbie know what type of appetizer or salad or dessert you are bringing. That way we won’t have duplicates.

 

Wagon Train June 5th – Debbie Bybee Crumpley

We need booth workers and more bakers.

We need a set up crew. Let Debbie know how you would like to help.

Set up is at 8:30am. We need help pricing the goodies.

Sunshine Report – Jeri Hartman

“No news is good news” Carol McBride attended today. Yay! Good to have her back. Carol said “Thank you all for the cards”. We will send a card to Barbara O’Sullivan who is unable to attend due to health. Janet Sullivan: Jeri is wondering if she needs a ride to attend or if she isn’t able to attend. Debbie Hurst is having surgery at Marshalls and has not been able to rejoin this year due to her Parkinson’s.

Friends of the Library Report – Marilyn

Still looking for help cleaning up the grounds in June, November and December.

All you have to do is blow pine needles and place them in the green waste. It is best to do it on a Sunday or a Monday when the library is closed so the parking lot will be clear to blow.

May 22nd is the fundraiser for the library -The book sale in front of Safeway. Please stop by and buy some books.

Birthday Lunch – Jan–April birthdays celebrating on April 8th at Public House, Placerville. RSVP by Monday to Theresa so the restaurant will know how many to expect. They will do separate checks.

May-Dec Birthday Lunch – dates TBD – Debbie Bybee Crumpley

Next Meeting Information – May meeting will be at The Meadow in Placerville, bring a chair, lunch is available to buy or bring your own.  11:30.   We get a guided tour of the gardens. Across the street from Raley’s, behind Spanky’s Pizza.

 

Upcoming Side Trips:

Jollity Goat Farm, April 14th (Tuesday).

To see and feed the babies 12:30-1:00 feeding. Meet there. $10 per person.

There will be goat cheese and soap for sale.

Bushnell Nursery – Granite Bay – May 14th  (Thursday)

Bushnell Gardens, Home & Gift Granite Bay

Contact Becky Lamoly if you want to go.

Leave PP Safeway at 10. It is a 1 hour drive.

Lunch at Dominick Italian Deli and Restaurant $10-$20

Murer House Foundation June 6th – Italian Garden/House tour, $5.00 for house, garden is free.  Becky is POC     RSVP for carpooling

The Italian Giuseppe Murer House and Garden Tour in Folsom June 6th 10am $5.00 for house tour. The garden tour is free. Leaving from CVS at 9am  1125 Joe Murer Court Folsom, California 95630

Announcements – Out of pure generous donations from meetings we raised $350.00 for a child’s Sugarloaf Arts Camp Scholarship, that is ½ the cost for 1 week for a Pollock Pines child. Thank you everyone for your generous giving. Becky will let us know when they have their after camp open house and show where you may listen to the orchestras, watch the actors and dancers and view the art and photography.

Raffles – June / September / October

If you have donations for upcoming raffles you may give them to Becky anytime to hold.

If you want to give money towards Sugarloaf Art Camp for next year you may give Anne M. the money to hold towards next year’s scholarship,

Sherwood Garden Demonstration Garden – Edible plant sale April 11th 8-12. If you aren’t there early you won’t get anything.

Ornamental spring plant sale April 25th 8-12am

A class on Growing Peppers and Tomatoes May 2nd 9-12. Free

Shakespeare Club Annual spring Plant Sale May 2nd 8:30-11

Bee-keepers are talking about planting for pollinators at Blue Stone Meadow Farm April 12th  4-6

Guest Speaker- Randy Mitchell

Randy shared the intriguing story of the double stagecoach robbery that happened in Pollock Pines and what happened following it that lead to the arrests and prosecution of those involved.
