July 2023 Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 11:05 am

Carol Game conducted the Pledge of Allegiance

No guest attended

New Members:

  • Tatyana Van Loo

Sunshine – Sue Granno had back surgery. Valerie Laam fell and tore her rotator cuff

July Birthday Lunch – Anne Mintmier

  • July 12th – 11:30 Placerville Public House, 305 Main St, Placerville, CA

  • All members invited

  • Celebrants: Barbara Thomas, Carole McNamara, Jan Slominski, Judy Jackson, Linda Seilhymer, Marilu Blau, Sue Granno

  • Notify Laura L or Karen by July 11th if you are planning to attend

Approval of April meeting minutes – approved by Norma Ray, seconded by Marilyn Johnson

Treasures report given by Maryann –beginning balance for July is $5,561.07.  The cash box(s) are currently $140 – $110 will be deposited and bring the cash box back to $30.

2023 4th of July Parade Bake Sale- the event, led by Lauran Goddard was a huge success with sales of $1,052.50.  Big thanks to JM Electric for a $100 donation.  (2022 sales were $690).  Several things were added to the booth – Popcorn, water and Gatorade, tic tac toe games, flags…which enhanced the sales greatly.

New Business – we have reached the time of year to begin looking for the 2024 Board.  We will be replacing all 4 positions this year.  If you have any interest or would like more info on each of the roles contact Debbi or any of the current board.

Sly Park entrance – Marilyn Johnson will lead the clean-up efforts this year with help from Patty Noble, Teresa Magnuson, Leslie Sinclair and Pat Schoggins

FOL – Marily gave an update on FOL – they need volunteers for Sept, Oct and Nov library cleanup

2023 Meeting Calendar

  • August 2 – Luau, Carol Game’s house

    • Potluck

      • A-H – Salads

      • I-M – Desserts

      • N-Z – Main dish

      • If you have a favorite Hawaiian dish, feel free to bring that versus the assigned ones above.

  • September 6 – Sly Park Education Center

    • Waiting for confirmation from the park coordinator

  • October 4 – Apple Hill, location TBD

  • November 1 – Annual Pot Luck, Pollock Pines Community Church

  • December 6 – Christmas Party, Shakespeare Theater, Placerville

Raffle – Green Acres provided 2 Gifts cards for our raffle.  Mary Matson ($25) and Donna Folts ($50)were the lucky winners

After the end of the meeting Greg Gayton from Green Acres gave a presentation and answered multiple gardening questions.  If you have questions send them in via the website and he will answer them.
