DOGWOOD GARDEN CLUB JULY2, 2025 MINUTES

Location – Bridal Veil Falls Picnic Area Welcome-Theresa Magnuson Meeting called to order at 11:09am Pledge led by Allison Knight

Welcome Guest -Kristine Kiholm (she has completed her membership form)

Budget: Anne Mintmier gave a report on the club finances. We made $400 income at the Wagon Train. We spent $196.19 on the DGC Brochure printing and $10.71 on brochure holders. We have a $2,663.63 bank balance and $77.15 in the cash box.

Birthday Lunch will be the 2nd Wednesday in August and hosted by Debbie Bybee-Crumpley and location will be determined.
Suggestions were taken for future lunch locations. Suggestions were Island Tropics, Mikunis, and The Public House. If you have suggestions for great lunch places you may email or text them to Debbie.

Coordinators for 2025- The only coordinator we still need is for the Granny Elf to organize the Christmas store for the after school children in December. Theresa is going to find out more information on what this job entails and will share this information at our next meeting.

Sunshine News:
Judith Jackson’s new address is 2121 West Hwy 6, apartment 4413 Waco, TX 76710

Membership – 69 total, 27 Lifetime. members attended the May Meeting.
Theresa presented jeweled plant stakes and name badges to our two new members.

Raffle – Jeri Hartman will let us know when the next raffle will be.

Brochure: Discussion was had as to where the brochures could be placed around town.
The brochure is already posted at the community center and Pizza Factory. Allison will ask at the dog groomers
Marilyn will ask at the nail salon. It was not noted who would check with the library and the post office but they were given as suggestions for posting of the brochure.

4th of July Bake Sale – This weekend.

Progressive Lunch: Debbie Bybee-Crumpley is organizing. It will move to three different homes where there will be salads at one and heavy appetizers at the second followed by dessert at the third home. It is limited to 24 which includes the three hosts. Each person who attends needs to bring one of the aforementioned foods with enough to feed 24. Date will be August 15th.

The three homes will be Theresa Magnuson, Becky Lamoly and Heather will host the dessert location.

Logging Days Craft Sale July 19th -: Carol Game is organizer. Instead of a bake sale we will be selling crafts. There will be specialty themed cookies baked and masterly artistically frosted by Debbie.
We will be having a craft day at Theresa’s to make items such as the plant jewel sticks, some teacup cup bird feeders, and painted rocks.

Craft day at Theresa Magnuson’s house at 10 am on Monday July 7th.

Upcoming Meeting: Aug. Meeting will be at Green Acres. Sept.-Apple Ridge (there will be a guest speaker)
Oct. -Lava Cap Winery in Camino
Nov. – Pollock Pines Community Church potluck

Dec. – Party at the golf course

August Meeting: At Green Acres, Greg will do a presentation for us. We will have chairs inside with air conditioning. For anyone who wants to go to lunch afterwards we will go to lunch at Lazy Dog.

Christmas Craft Fair: There was a discussion at our next meeting about moving it from the weekend prior to Thanksgiving to two weekends before Thanksgiving. This works much better for the community center. This could pose a problem for craft vendors who are committed at Apple Hill until the close of the season. Changing the date is on hold until Jan is consulted on if this is a conflict.

Christmas Party Location- A discussion was had as to where this year’s party should be and the consensus was to go ahead and make reservations at the golf course where it was last year.

Carol told us about a very fun and successful fundraiser auction that was held at the Wagon Train. It was suggested that we have that as part of the fun at our Christmas Party.

Adjourn – Theresa at 11:54
1st -Valerie Laam 2nd- Sue Granno

Guest Speaker was our own Heather talking about fire safety and what to do in the event of evacuation. It was very illuminating and we learned many things that were new to many of us.

Extra Activity
Debbie invited anyone to go kayaking on Jenkinson Lake at 11 am on July 9th. Bring your kayak and lunch and meet at the 2nd boat launching ramp.
