Meeting Minutes
03/2/16
We began the meeting with our speaker, Ellen Osborn who spoke about her ancestor John Calhoun Johnson. She told of his history and meeting up with an Indian Fall Leaf – who gave his name to Fallen Leaf Lake – Her history was fascinating and told a lot about our area and her ancestors.
Pat Schoggins led us in the flag salute.
Maureen introduced Lexi Mack who was sponsored by Kay Campbell. And Virginia Bane introduced her son who had accompanied her to the meeting. Marilyn Johnson introduced Mary Lou Blau who will become a new member.
Pat Schoggins talked about Penny Pines; last month we raised $98. The money goes to plant small pines in the El Dorado Forest.
Doris Morley moved and Tom Schulz seconded that the Minutes be approved.
Treasurer Kay Campbell reported that we have $2549.22 in our account.
New Business- We have 3 Life Time Members: Doris Morley, Virginia Bane and Judy Jackson. Doris and Virginia were present and received their Life Time Member badges.
Team reports
Norma Ray reported that they are collecting cards for the residents of the Western Slope Care facility. There are 99 full time residents. They are also collecting cards to help shut-in residents of the trailer parks in Pollock Pines.
Ginger DeGregory –On April 6 we will be going The Museum of Wonder and Delight in Folsom. We will have lunch at Hops Sings – directions will be coming.
Janet Sullivan reported the month’s birthdays are Loraine Mumm and herself. The luncheon will be at Beef N Brew.
Leslie Sinclair – Arbor Day Event May 1st at the old school house. There will be a May pole, and she need kids 10 -12 to participate. There will be a separate area for children’s activities. Sign-up sheets were passed around to help with the kids, baked items and the flea market. All the tables and everything else need to be ready by 11am that day.
Sandra Morgan thanks all who brought groceries to this meeting and the last. Since the next meeting is in Folsom she will not be collecting groceries. But don’t give up because there is a real need.
