DOGWOOD GARDEN CLUB

May 3, 2017

MINUTES

Meeting called to order by Norma Ray at 11:59 a.m.

  1. Pledge of allegiance led by Marilu Blau
  2. Request for additional Agenda Items –
    1. Sly Park Resort Entrance Planting
      1. Nancy and Tom Schulz said they would be able to handle this on their own.
    2. Tom Schulz reminded club members that May 4 is National Giving Day on the internet
    3. Virginia Bane received, and truly appreciated, the card sent by the club.
    4. A card was sent to Judy Jackson
    5. Amy Rath reminded club members of the library book sale slated for May
  3. Minutes from March 2017 Meeting
    1. Moved to approve, Anne Mintmier
    2. Seconded, Leslie Sinclair
    3. Motion Approved by attending members
  4. Introduction of Guests and New Members – None
  5. Treasurer’s Report – Total at end of March $2,904.30
  6. Old Business – None
  7. New Business – Norma Ray
    1. May 10th Birthday Lunch at Forester – Janet Sullivan
      1. Separate checks available
    2. Next Meeting at Hooverville, June 7
      1. 5 miles from Placerville, North on Hwy 49 at Wallace
        1. Family business, orchard and bakery
        2. Can buy lunch (hot dogs, chips, dessert) or bring bag lunch.
      2. Library Maintenance – The current schedule is:
        1. May – Pat Schoggins and Jayne Loughry
        2. June – A major cleanup may be scheduled for June – Sandra Morgan
  • July – Marilyn Johnson and Jeri Hartman
  1. August – Leslie Sinclair and Sylvia Hamblin
  1. Fund Raising
    1. Arbor Day/Wildfire Preparedness Day – May 6, 2017 – 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. (Leslie Sinclair) – Set up at 10:30
      1. Held at the Pollock Pines Fire Station on Pony Express Trail
      2. Seven booths – Craft Fair and Bake Sale
      3. Interactive kids’ activity
    2. Pickers and Peddlers Fair – Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Back Roads Barn (Mary Bourn)
      1. DGC asked to set up croquet on lawn
      2. Three raffle baskets will be contributed
      3. Craft Team will be manning booth from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m.
        1. Need Volunteers
      4. Other activities:
        1. Face Painting
        2. Food Trucks
        3. Live Music
  • Wagon Train – Pollock Pines
    1. DGC will be selling Root Beer Floats
  1. Holiday Craft Fair – Norma Ray and Lexa Mack
    1. Tentatively scheduled for Sunday, November 12
  2. Extra-Curricular Activity:
    1. PAWs ARC 2000 in San Andreas will have an Open House on May 13, 2017 (Norma Ray for Pat Weideman)
      1. Wildlife Sanctuary (Performing Animals Welfare Society)
      2. The event is sold out.
  • Ride Share leaving O’Reilly’s at 9:30 a.m. be there by 9:20
  1. May Meeting recap:
    1. Held at Camino Nursery and Garden Center
    2. Lovely wine-tasting venue (and another on the way)
    3. Space available for gatherings
    4. Lovely plants
    5. Great, friendly service
