President’s Last Message
I look back over the last 2 years with so much gratitude in my heart for the wonderful experience I have had being your president. My comfort level is being “behind the scenes”; this was a big step in my personal growth (yes, we all can still keep growing!). If it hadn’t been for my affiliation a few years back with “Toastmasters” helping me to face my fear of public speaking, I don’t think I would have been up to the task of being your president! I joined the DGC to meet people since I was new to PP; and because of that “first” step, not only did I meet wonderful people in the DGC (and a few of you were so kind as to take me “under your wings” to get me acquainted with the community) I have gone on to sit on other community boards.
I am looking forward to just sitting in the audience as a regular member; I only had 3mos of that before a few of you spied a “live one” and you “reeled me in” as treasurer!! But I will still be that person that enjoys working behind the scenes!
Please support your new President, Norma, and her board; “many hands make light work”!
Hugs to you all,
Maureen

New Business
Norma Ray announced that the 2017 DGC Membership Form will no longer have “Team” sign ups. Instead we will ask that members sign up for an event when announced at a meeting. But we will also need to have volunteers to be a team leader for an activity; no team leader, no activity.
The one Team Leader we do need is a Sunshine Leader, as Janet Sullivan is stepping-down as the team leader. Minimally we need someone to be the go-to-person for notifying that members are sick, death in the family etc. The monthly birthday luncheons, as it stands now, we will possibly have to be done by members independently if there is no team.
Please contact Norma Ray if you would like to be the Sunshine Leader.
There will be a 2017 Program Meeting in January; date and time TBD.
Our December Meeting will be a Mystery Murder Luncheon; an email will go out this week with the particulars.
Pat Schoggins announced the day we will make the boughs for the community will be on Wed. Nov 30 , 9:30 at the community center; it should only take a few hours. Need volunteers; please contact Pat if you can help.
Old Business
Maureen reported the Boys & Girls Holiday Store will be from Dec 5-8, 3-5:30pm with decorating the room on Monday, Dec 5th, 12-3pm
We need cookies for 115 children. We can also use gifts for the store, ( list was emailed last week) in lieu of buying gifts, it was suggested that perhaps Members would like to donate $10 and we will add that to the $100 DGC is donating. This way a group of DGC members can shop. If you decide to send a check, make it payable to DGC and send to our PO Box. In your Memo area put B&GC.
December Birthday luncheon will be Dec 14 at the Mandarin Chinese Restaurant in PP; Janet Sullivan is you host, please RSVP to her. December birthdays are Louise Furden and Lajunta Inman.
Sue Granno has had back surgery, and I’m sure she would enjoy a card or a call;
Judy Jackson and her husband Bob will be moving to So California in December. You will be missed!
Meeting was adjourned at 1:00pm
Respectfully submitted by
Maureen Julian
