Hello Ladies!
Hope all of you are doing well, enjoying the summer and any vacations you might have taken or any still to come!!
For myself and my family, we left 3 days after our luau meeting for a 10 day Alaskan cruise. I have to say after 10 days of someone else cleaning our suite twice a day, room service coffee each morning, decisions on where to go eat each meal that someone else cooked and just walking off the boat at ports for adventures, it’s been hard to get back to reality! LOL
Our August luau meeting was a great time with 37 members in attendance, 2 guests and about 6 “Dogwood Dudes”. New members included Billie Wood who joined up a few months ago and this was her first meeting. Billie was one of the vendors at last year’s Holiday Fair and Becky Lamoly found us at the 4th of July Bake Sale. We are so glad they decided to join our fun group!
Thank you to everyone for your wonderful dishes of great food! A special thank you to Laura and Karen’s guest Lillie for her remembrances of growing up in Hawaii and her Hula lessons! Thank you also to Carol Osborne and Debbie Hurst for their remembrance of growing up in Hawaii and the wonderful family history and pictures they shared. It is on a sadder note that just days later the wildfire devastation that has destroyed the beautiful historic town of Lahaina, and the loss of so many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people of Hawaii, and to the families.
Maryann’s Treasurer Report included a deposit that was from a long time member Sharon McKee who sadly passed away a couple of years ago and left $1,000 to the club. Thank you Sharon!
Our Raffle netted us $215.00. Thank you to all of you who donated wonderful items! Our new member Becky Lamoly is an artist and donated a wonderful picture!
Birthday ladies this month are Donna Folts, Gertie Kellogg, Karen Fryxell, Lea Snowden, Susan Krall and Sylvia Hamblin. Happy Birthday Ladies!!
We voted a few months ago to change the months of our Judy Morgan Park Clean Up to September, October and November (2nd Saturday of each month, 9:30 am), replacing December for September. Club members choose to vote the approval of funds for the 3rd month of a dumpster as opposed to having to have members take the green waste to the dump which usually requires several trips. Current funding was covered for 2 months prior to the vote for the 3rd month.
Judy Morgan Park Clean Up~ So speaking of the clean up…. 2 of our signed up volunteers will not be able to help in September. Valerie and Steve both have had shoulder surgery in recent months. We are in need of a few more volunteers for Saturday, September 9th, 9:30 am. Please let me know if you will be able to help. The more of us there are, the faster it goes!!
Our Annual Community Contributions are coming up. We are looking for suggestions from membership. If there is a local organization that you would like to see the club to possibly support, submit your request of organization and the recommended amount to myself.
Elections for the 2024 Board of Directors are coming up at our November meeting. All four positions are open for new members to hold! If you are interested in a position or would like more information about what is required of each position, please contact me or any of our current board members. PLEASE consider any of them to keep our great club going!!
