BLOOMIN’ NEWS
February 2022
Hello Ladies,
It was good to see so many of you attend our first meeting of the year last week, February 2, 2022. Thank you Sandra Morgan and the Pollock Pines Community Church for hosting our meeting. Sandra, we appreciate all the work you do to make our meetings get up and running. The meeting also included an optional lunch catered by Chef Allison, another wonderful meal Allison!
The board worked in the month of January to plan the coming year’s Fundraisers, Events & Activities. An email was sent out in January with the proposed “Dogwood Garden Club 2022 Plan” for members to review and provide any feedback. Following the email a meeting was held open to the membership to attend if so desired for any input & ideas. This proposed plan was discussed at the February meeting. In the plan there are 11 Fundraisers, Events & Activities, 8 Club Coordinators and 3 Committees. Each of these has a “Lead” and volunteers. I know it’s early and we don’t always know what the year will bring, but we still have plenty of vacant Lead positions available. Please consider signing up for one or more. If you’re new at it, there is plenty of knowledge from members to help you! Clipboards for each of these were available before & after the meeting for members to sign up for their favorite(s) …. 1,2,3 or more!! This is an ongoing process and there is always plenty of room for leads & volunteers. We will have at each monthly meeting the sign up sheets for the next few months coming events.
We are looking for Coordinators for the following:
Publicity – Getting the word out for our Fundraisers/Events & Activities
Photographer – Help document our Fundraisers/Events & Activities
If interested let me know.
All present were agreeable to the plan, there was some discussion on the area of “Daffodil Hill”. The current area will be at the Old School on Pony Express Trail. Included in the plan were the proposed Monthly Meeting dates, locations & topics. A Lot of fun is in store for us this year, most of the meetings will be located outdoors. At the bottom of this newsletter I will list the meetings.
After 14 years of coordinating the Birthday Lunches, Janet Sullivan is handing over the reins to “Anne Mintmier & Friends”. Thank you Janet for all the years of coordination. Now you can sit back, relax and enjoy going to them!
Another “Thank You” goes out to Marilyn Johnson for the 10 years she served as Email Distribution Coordinator. Your time in sending them out all these years is very much appreciated! Becky Mc Intyre has stepped forward and will be now forwarding club related emails. Becky’s email address is: beckydmc@yahoo.com
Our Membership Dues are an important portion of our yearly budget. Please remember to send in your dues ASAP, they are due February 15th. If you already have “THANK YOU”, if not, please make checks out to the “Dogwood Garden Club” and mail to PO Box 1074 Pollock Pines, CA 95726. Dues are $30.00 a year, or $45.00 if you would like the Bloomin’ News sent to your address. We appreciated each and every one of you!
I know it’s early, but just want to let you know that our December Holiday Christmas Party/Luncheon will be held Wednesday, December 7th at the Shakespeare Club in Placerville, time TBD. A few of us went last week to check out the venue, what a beautiful place. It will be perfect for our theme this year, a “Roaring 20’s Christmas”! Get your thinking caps on, visit Pinterest and other fun sites for ideas. Consider dressing up, have fun! Lunch will be catered by Chef Allison. We will be asking members to host a table, this will include the centerpiece, napkins, plates, silverware, glasses, salt & pepper, etc. We will be providing the tablecloths. Sign ups will be in the coming months. We may have some live music, so we’re looking to have a roaring good time! Spouses/Significant Others are welcome to join the festivities.
Next Meeting-
Next month’s meeting Wednesday, March 2nd will be a cooking class with Chef Allison. We will be cooking and eating it! What that will be is still to be determined, we should know by the time I send out the meeting email this weekend, look for details (see separate post here or go to Additional Club Info on this website). Location: at the Community Center. The cooking class is for all members as observers and helpers if you wish; Cost: $15. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch.
Attached below are the February 2, 2022 Meeting Minutes.
