Greetings Fellow DGCers:
March has certainly come in like a lion – a very white lion! We can only hope it goes out like the lamb it’s supposed to! The month started with a very fun and informative meeting. Thank you Mary Bourn and your team of incredibly hard working people for organizing, setting up and cleaning up, and for inviting Melissa from Above and Beyond Estate Sales who shared her knowledge of estate sales and the services she provides. And thanks to all the club members who brought delicious and in some cases very unusual dishes! We had a great turn out with around 35 people attending. The minutes from this meeting are here.
Speaking of great turn outs, the birthday lunch today not only honored the folks celebrating birthdays but gave Bunny Minkin a fabulous send off. Bunny is headed to the Fairfield area (exactly where, she’s not sure) for an easier life nearer to her son. We wish Bunny the best in this next phase of her life. Her sweetness and wit will be sorely missed.
At the last club meeting I asked the members if they felt we should have a Christmas Faire to help raise money for the club. I received a positive response to the idea. Planning needs to begin now with securing vendors and publicity. I will be happy to make arrangement with Joyce to have the Faire at the Pollock Pines Community Center in mid-November. I’m looking for people to volunteer to manage publicity, organize vendors, be in charge of set up and clean up, organize the decorations and one person to oversee the whole thing. Please let me know if you are willing to take on any of these tasks.
For the next Dogwood Garden Club meeting, we will begin with a visit to Marlene Ruth’s Doll Museum on Pony Express in Pollock Pines. We will have our meeting and lunch afterwards at the Sportsman’s Hall. Details are below.
The next birthday lunch venue is yet to be determined but I’m sure it will be some place fun! April birthday celebrators include: Darlene Grosz, Joyce Harris, Ken Brown, Maureen Julian and Teresa Burroughs.
The next Dogwood Garden Club meeting will be held on Wednesday April 5th. We will begin with on opportunity to check out Marlene Ruth’s Dolls and Memories located at 5441 Pony Express Trail, Camino, CA. Marlene is not open to the public yet but has graciously agreed to allow us access to the museum. She will provide us with a 10 minute presentation telling us about her dream for a doll museum and a few of her special dolls. Marlene is waiving the $5 per person fee but would greatly appreciate donations and would love to have our feedback.
