Hello Ladies,
Another month has flown by and here we are in March already. Our sunshine and budding leaves on our roses and plants think it’s Spring!
Another wonderful meeting and optional catered lunch by Chef Allison Wednesday, March 2, 2022. The topic of our meeting was a “Cooking Demo” from Allie’s Kitchen by Chef Allison, demonstrating the making of the sauces that were used in the lunch. These included Caesar Salad Dressing, Saffron Bechamel Sauce for the Agnolotti and a Wild Mushroom Sauce for the Chicken Masala. Thank you Allison for another wonderful meal!
We had several guests at this month’s meeting including a few husbands, great to see you and hope you enjoyed it! 2 new members joining us are Carol Bertke and Grace Rhodes. We look forward to seeing you! We have 7 new members who joined us this month; Barbara Kaczynska, Gretchen Edwards, Jan Roman-Gonzales, Lauran Goddard, Margie Thomas, Mary Ann Trujillo and Toni Shaw. “Welcome Ladies”!!
An updated Roster will be emailed out to include our new members. Please remember this roster is for club use only and not to be shared.
Patty Noble is our newest “Lifetime Member” of the Dogwood Garden Club. Lifetime Members have been with the club for 15 years, and no longer have to pay yearly dues!
Congratulations Patty!
Birthdays this month are Denise Simonson, Gretchen Edwards, Mary Ann Trujillo, Toni Shaw and Janet Sullivan. Happy Birthday Ladies! Birthday Lunch this month was celebrated at the Sportsman’s Hall in Pollock Pines on Wednesday, March 9th. Thank You Donna Folts for coordinating this month’s lunch.
Our 2022 Budget was updated this month to include a few more dollar amounts in our Income Line Items. This included having a goal of 15 new members, and adding some more dollars to some of our events so as to have a goal to work towards. On the Output side of things, we have a few items we need to purchase such as another pop up canopy and a speaker sound system.
We will be working on getting our “Membership Committee” up and running so as to help get the word out about our Dogwood Garden Club at events & activities and help recruit new members. Part of this committee will be to host a “Welcome/Onboarding Lunch” in early Summer. We want to have all our new members feel welcome, explaining what the club is about, our fundraising events and giving back to the community. Also as part of this committee we are going to be working on updating the Dogwood Garden Club brochure and have new ones painted. We are looking for volunteers to lead and join this committee. Please consider helping with this as it is a vital part of sustaining our club’s future!
Club Member Colleen Ferrari gave a presentation on the “Welcome to Pollock Pines” packets. Colleen puts these packets together to give out to any new resident to Pollock Pines. Information and resources are important to newcomers as well as feeling they are welcomed to our great small mountain town. Colleen also includes small items that can be placed in the packets such as pens, pencils, note pads. If you know of a business in town that could help these packets and advertise their business, please connect Colleen with them. Your help is greatly appreciated. We all benefit when we have great new residents!
Other news was CEDAPP will be hosting a “Wild West Poker Tournament and Hoedown” fundraiser to benefit the future Pollock Pines/El Dorado County All Abilities playground on Forebay Rd. Event will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022, 3:00 – 9:00 PM at the American Legion Hall in Placerville. For more details contact Jeanne Harper @ (530)613-1332.
The club’s board participated in the “Strikes for Scholarships” bowling tournament last Saturday. The Dogwood Garden Club “Gutter Girls” had a great time. It was so much fun we decided to get together once a month to bowl a few games. All of you are invited to join us the first Tuesday of each month at 10:30 am, Knotty Pines Bowling Lanes. $2.00 Tuesdays – 2 games and bowling shoe rental is $8.00. Come join us or come on over to cheer us on!
