President’s Message
Well, we’ve made it to May – and what a busy May it’s turning out to be! Our May meeting, organized by Marilu Blau and held at Via Romano, was a wonderful success with perfect weather and great attendance. The following Saturday was our first fund raising activity – the Arbor Day festivities and Wildfire Preparedness Day. The Crafts Team was there selling their wares along with a good selection of yummies baked by club members. Hats off to those who braved the very cold weather and brought in some money for our club! The birthday lunch on the 10th at the Forester was as usual a very enjoyable time. There were only about half dozen of us there but the conversation was very lively! The 13th was the PAWS Open House outside of San Andreas. Quite a few club members attended and enjoyed the great weather, beautiful countryside, animals and founder Ed’s stories.
Friends of the Library is having their bi-annual book sale at Safeway on Friday, May 26th. Contact Marilyn Johnson if you would like to help out.
Our next club meeting is June 7th and will be held at Hooverville up Highway 49 about 3 miles. It’s a lovely orchard farm with bakery! Mary Bourn is hosting. You can purchase lunch in advance or bring your own. A flyer for the meeting is attached. Please return your food order to Mary by June 1st.
Birthday lunch for June will be held on June 14th at Poor Red’s in Diamond Springs and hosted by Mary Bourn. If you haven’t been there since they reopened, this will be a lovely opportunity to celebrate birthdays, enjoy the atmosphere, food and for the bold – a Gold Cadillac! Birthday celebrators are Kay Campbell and Virginia Bane.
Our plans for the July meeting have changed. We will now be meeting at the Sierra Springs Club House for a potluck and will have a hands-on chalk painting demonstration! The date is July 5th.
And that’s just the beginning of a whole lot of activities coming up this summer! If anyone knows of an activity that they think club members would enjoy, please let me know and I’ll add it to the next meeting agenda or if it’s soon, pass the information on to Marilyn to distribute to club members.
May minutes are attached. Please review if you have a chance.
I wish you all a happy spring while it lasts!
Norma Ray
