President’s Message
Sierra Springs Lodge was the beautiful location for our Oct 1st Meeting. Thank You Merle Neil for arranging this venue for us. We had quite the turnout for our Pot Luck Meeting. One thing for sure, our members know how to “Pot Luck”
Delicious Food and plenty of it. It was so wonderful to be together and share our “Stories” of the King Fire and how it impacted so many of our members. Billie Jordan shared her moving story about her cancer. Many of us learned a lot from her experience.
We are very blessed to have such a caring group
The year is winding down with our last project being the Boy’s and Girl’s Club Christmas Store. Our organization of the items that have been donated was very productive.
A HUGE THANK YOU!! to all who donated to the B&G Club School Supplies Drive. Happy to report that they are fully stocked for the rest of the year.
We will be having a Board Meeting on Tuesday November 18th @1:00PM at the Community Center to listen to suggestions as to where the rest of our Fundraising Money will be distributed for our 2014 year.

Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 10:35a.m. by President, Mary Bourn. The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Vice-President, Doris Morely. The minutes from the September meeting were approvedby Bunny Minkin and seconded by Joy Heine.
TREASURERS REPORT: Maureen Julian reported the bank account at $3,352.
TEAM REPORTS:
CRAFTS-Nanette Lewis stated team will not meet in October. If you want to participate in the upcoming Craft Bazaar contact Nanette or Mary Bourn. A raffle basket will be auctioned off at the Bazaar.
DECORATING – Judy Jackson stated the Christmas lunch at the Smith House will be upstairs.There will be no gift exchange or collection of toys at the lunch. Cost is $25.
MEMBERSHIP – Jeri Hartman will have badges for the new members.
NOMINATING TEAM – Norma Ray announced all board member positions have nominations for next year; Maureen Julian, President; Pat Schoggins, V.P.; Teresa Bouroughs,Treasurer and Norma Ray, Secretary.
PROGRAMS – Judy Jackson – next meeting will be held at the Pollock Pines Camino Community Center with election of officers. Social time 10 a.m. meeting at 10:30 a.m. with a box lunch catered by Smokey Joes Deli. Donations of unwrapped gifts for 3-10 year old children should be brought to the meeting or to the Community Center. In addition, The Boys and Girls Club Christmas Boutique will be needing mens and boys gifts.
SUNSHINE – Janet Sullivan announced the birthday lunch will be held Visconti Restaurant, 2700 E. Bidwell, Folsom. 11:30 a.m., hosted byTami Lee.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Mary Bourn announced that vintage hats were displayed on a table and available for purchase. The hats came from an estate sale. Tom and Nancy Schulz donated gardening books for purchase.
Billy Jordan spoke about cancer awareness and the importance of being proactive. She thanked everyone for the many cards, phone calls and well wishes. She reminded everyone that September is ovarian cancer month and life is a blessing, not to be taken lightly.
Maureen Julian reminded everyone to have a prepared list of items to gather and take with you, a “go bag ready” for emergency evacuation and the importance of a practice evacuation. The Fire Safe Council holds regular meetings for all community members to attend.
Sandra Morgan asked for those interested in purchasing a Club shirt to contact her. 12 shirt orders are needed.

November 5 Meeting
We are having the November 5th meeting at the Pollock Pines Community Center 2675 Sanders Drive. Joyce Harris will be our speaker to tell us of all the activities that are available at our Community Center. We will also hold our elections for next year.
Social will begin at 10:00 am and our meeting will start at 10:30 am. If you wish bring your own lunch. We will eat after the meeting and do a little more socializing if you can stay.
Please remember to bring your unwrapped gift for a child to the to the meeting, but remember you can drop off gifts at the Community Center at any time.
Please do not forget your items for the Boys & Girls Club gift store. We really need things for the dads and grandpa’s. Fishing lures, tools. socks. Dollar Store is a good place to start. Need jewelry, scarves and spa basket items for the moms. Remember please donate new items for the gifts.
Mary has put together a fabulous Fall Basket that will be raffled off on November 22nd at the Gift Bazaar. Tickets are 6 for $5.00 and winner need not be present. Please remember to bring your address labels for your tickets.
We hope to have a great attendance for our November meeting so we can support the Community Center toy drive and the Boys and Girls Club Christmas store.
December 3 Meeting
We will not be collecting gifts at our December Christmas Party at the SFH. Our December meeting will be for members only; no guests this year. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED MENU AND RESERVATION FORM

I would like to put a big thank you for the generous hospitality and loving kindness that Jeri Hartman expressed when she so graciously allowed my dog and me to share her home for three days during the King Fire. I couldn’t have gone through this without her kindness. Sylvia
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB CHRISTMAS STORE
We did a big organization on the Christmas Store today and got a lot accomplished. Our next phase is the Decorating of the store
We will be decorating on MONDAY DECEMBER 8TH @ 9:30AM
The Christmas Store will be open for the children on:

THURS DECEMBER 11TH
The Store Hours are from 3:00 to 4:30
We are looking for Volunteers to Decorate on the 8th
and Volunteers to help children in the Christmas Store shop for family members. on the above dates

Please put the following date on your calendar to make and put up our Christmas boughs.
Last year it only took 1 1/2 hr. to make them. This year we only need to make 44 boughs, so it may not even take that long.
Save this date: Mon. Dec. 1, 10AM in the bar room of the Community Center.
Sunshine Team
The November Garden Club Birthday Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at 11:30 am at The Golden Dragon Restaurant, 1341 Broadway, Placerville. We will be given separate checks. The restaurant has an extensive menu and great luncheon prices. Janet Sullivan is your November Birthday Luncheon Hostess. Please RSVP to Janet if you plan to attend.
