BLOOMIN’ NEWS
October 2022
Hello Ladies!
Another great meeting this month with 27 members in attendance. A presentation about bees was given by John Havicon, member of the El Dorado Beekeepers Association and owner of Bluestone Meadow. So many interesting facts on bees. Support them by planting bee friendly plants, they are so important to our food chain!
A raffle was held with so many cute donated items with many being bee related. $241.00 was raised with proceeds going toward our Christmas party. A HUGE thank you to all of you who donated items.
Lauren and I made bee cookies for the meeting; honeycombs, beehives and bees. It was a lot of work, but fun and rewarding!!
We have 3 new members since we met in August; Kristine Osgood, Susan Krall and Debbie Hurst. Welcome ladies!!
Congratulations goes to Becky Mc Intyre who became our latest “Lifetime Member,” with 15 years with the Dogwood Garden Club! And thank you Becky for bringing to the meeting the small succulent plants that will reappear at the November meeting!
Jeri gave a brief announcement, Valerie had knee replacement surgery the day of our meeting. We wish Valerie a speedy recovery!
Birthday lunch this month was this past Wednesday at Papa Gianni’s Ristorante in Cameron Park. Birthdays this October month are: Annie Tornincasa, Ginger DeGregory, Laura Llamas, Marilyn Johnson, Mary Matson, Mary Bourn, Norma Ray, Sandy Adams and Tami Lee. Happy birthday ladies!!!
Event and Activity sheets are at all meetings to sign up for volunteering. We have a busy next 2 months. Please consider signing up for one or two events. It’s a lot of fun! If you are new and shy as you don’t know many ladies, this is a great way in a smaller setting to meet and get to know them. We all started out like that! I will be sending out a separate email with event & activity information.
Carol did give an update for our December 7th Christmas Party. We will have live entertainment by “opus.” She read off the menu which will be listed in the separate events email. Roaring 20’s theme, you do NOT have to dress in 20’s attire to attend!
Club Cookbook Fundraiser – Reminder, please send your favorite recipes to Barbara O’Sullivan or Valerie Lam. You can photocopy them, they will be redone. Our November meeting will be our annual potluck, bring a copy (with your name on it) of the dish you brought to the potluck.
Holiday Craft Fair in the Pines – Friday and Saturday November 18 & 19th at the Community Center. Looking for volunteers for set up/ clean up and bakers. More to follow in the separate email.
Judy Morgan Park was cleaned up last Saturday. Thank you Barbara, Pat and Marilyn for all the work you did!! The onsite debris box worked out great, no hauling offsite! We currently have NO volunteers for Saturday, November 12th, 9:00 am. WE NEED MORE HELP, PLEASE.
If we can get 10 volunteers we would be done in an hour. Many hands will make it go faster. Hubby’s and significant other are welcome also, we could use their help also placing the yard waste into the debris box which is about 4.5 feet high. Please consider volunteering for the November and or December 10th clean up. Bring gloves, and rakes. Pop Up yard containers, old tarps and . blowers with batteries if you have them.
