July 2025 Bloomin’ News

Hello Ladies,
Hope you have been enjoying your summer.    We had a great meeting at Bridal Veil Falls picnic area.  Thank you to our guest speaker Heather Campbell, I know I learned a lot about evacuation prep.
The group decided to have the Christmas Party at the Golf Course again.  Allison will be making the reservations.
Our August meeting will be on Wednesday August 6th at Green Acres in Folsom at 11:00.  We have Greg (Green Acres) as our guest Speaker.   Lunch at Lazy Dog afterwards for those that would like to attend.
We had a successful July 4th Parade Bake sale, we made a little over $300. Thank you to all who contributed baked goods, drinks, worked and did set up and take down.  We made a bag for the El Dorado Hot Shots and the remaining baked goods I’m freezing.  Plan to put those out for Logging Days along with unsold waters and Gatorade.
Our next event is Logging Days on July 19th at the Community Center.  More details to follow for those that signed up to work.
It’s that time of year for our part of the clean up of Judy Morgan Park for Sept, Oct, Nov.  An email will be going out asking for volunteers, sometime in August.
Remaining Meetings for the year:
August- Green Acres
September – Apple Ridge Farms
October – Lava Cap Winery
November – potluck at Church
Dec – Christmas Party
Hope to see you at our future events and meetings.
Theresa
DGC President 2025
Many thanks to Heather Campbell for sharing her expertise around Firewise home wildfire hardening during our last meeting at Bridal Veil Falls picnic area. What a beautiful day it was. Heather asked that we share the two attached forms with the group. One is the CA Fair Plan application for wildfire hardening discounts. Check to see if you qualify and then share the application with your insurance agent. The other is a Firewise volunteer hourly worksheet. All hours/dollars that you spend on your property to fire harden (including raking up needles for your green can) can be credited to the annual requirements for our Firewise community. Please follow up with Heather if you have additional questions: 530-957-6091.
Currently the Pollock Pines Firewise Community has a large footprint that encompasses most, but not all, homes in Pollock Pines. A reorganization is in process to create multiple communities to ensure all homes in Pollock are included. Be sure to visit the Pollock Pines FIREWISE Community Facebook page for future updates.  (Karen Duncan)
